Sanart, a private association for the promotion of contemporary arts in Turkey, was organized second time a wide range of international events and a symposium which was took place in Ankara, under the title Art and Taboos. The fundamental aim of Sanart was the expansion and the upgrading of the institutions that enhance the familiarity and the substantial communication of the public with contemporary art. This year’s focal art presentation, selected by the organizing committee, is decided to the Taboo. The exhibitions includes Jean Dubuffet Graphic Retrospective, Prometheus ’82 (East German Art), Video Art.
The French artist Jean Dubuffet (1901-1985) was recently the subject of a major graphic retrospective at the State Painting and Sculpture Museum in Ankara. This exhibition is the latest in a series which has included, since 1993, Cobra, Adolf Wöflli by Sanart in an attempt to cataloque and establishes a chronology for contemporary art. The retrospective shows graphics from 1945 until 1985 from the collection of Jean Dubuffet Fondation Paris.
