Gerwald Rockenschaub 4to2floors [25.5. – 2.9.2012]

By

Borusan Contemporary, Istanbul

Dealing with color, form and concepts initiated by the transformation of space in his works, Gerwald Rockenschaub’s solo show at Borusan Contemporary is entitled “4to2floors”. The artist reinterpreted Perili Köşk’s second and fourth floor exhibition spaces. Taking specific term from techno music as a departure point, he has created site-specific situations for this presentation and brought his recent works together. The show draws the visitors into the exhibition space through its architectural compactness, from the first moment they step in, and invites them to the unity of day light, architecture and colors. The holistic approach allows the visitors to develop different points of view addressing all of their senses and perceptions. With his architectural interventions, Rockenschaub creates “visual synergy” at Borusan Contemporary.

The show brings together Gerwald Rockenschaub’s works in four different categories: bildobjekte, objects, sculpture and installation. The artist added two temporary walls to the second floor gallery and also removed a wall allowing more day light to get into the exhibition space. The walls painted in grey divides the gallery into two and allow the visitors to view two bodies of work separately.
